KARMELA I. DIZON, CMKBD

Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer

Karmela Dizon is a Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer (CMKBD) through the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

Switching from the Nursing course in 2010, she pursued her childhood dream to be a designer.

In 2011, she worked as a student intern at Custom Kitchens by John Wilkins, Inc., one of the oldest and most reputable design-build firms in East Bay, California. The next year, she was offered a full-time designer position, a few months before she graduated from Chabot College in 2012. The family-owned award-winning company trained and mentored her for 8 years in sales, design, and construction aspects.

Leaping onto the next level of her career, she accepted a position to be the Manager of Design-Build at Artistic Kitchen, Mountain View, California where she served for 4 years. As the manager and a senior designer, she was involved in the process of each remodeling project from meet-and-greet, concept, design, project management, all the way to completion.

When Karmela moved to Austin, Texas in 2022, she embarked on a new journey to join the Bentwood Luxury Kitchens, a fine custom cabinet manufacturer in Lancaster, Tx which was established 35 years ago. Karmela has a long history and great relationship with the company over the years, as she has been designing and remodeling homes using the Bentwood and Harmoni since she started her career 13 years ago (as seen in her portfolio). The past two firms she worked with were both Bentwood and Harmoni cabinet dealers.

She saw a great opportunity to introduce these products in the Austin market because there was no active representation in this area during that time. Although Bentwood/Harmoni have hundreds of dealers nationwide, they only had three showrooms: Bentwood of Dallas, Bentwood of Houston, and Bentwood of Chicago. She was given a great opportunity to become the first designer-representative in Austin. This would be the birth of the newest branch, Bentwood of Austin which is located at The Marketplace ATX, a design trade destination for the Austin community. Bentwood of Austin showcases a "Japandi" style display, which opened on December 2023. It is a great place to meet and collaborate with clients, designers, architects, builders, and other professionals in the industry.

With Karmela's passion and grit for design and her experience in residential construction and remodeling, her clients could truly enjoy the entire process with ease and confidence. With her creativity and solutionist mindset, each space is approached artistically with function and longevity in mind.
